Historic
Point Pleasant. While it doesn't have some of the modern amenities
found in more recently constructed buildings, Pt. Pleasant does
have class and charm unequaled by latter day edifices. Construction
took place in 1925, during the height of Prohibition and was the
last word in luxury. What is now the Penthouse (top floor North
wing) was a Speakeasy during the early days, where wealthy winter
visitors could dance the night away and enjoy a bit of hooch.
Music was provided by that newest entertainment marvel, the Radio.
Conversion to condominium came in 1981 and at the same time, the
building became a National Historic Landmark. It is probably one
of the only "museums" available in Florida today, where
people can actually live.
